LHC directs President Zardari to suspend political activities

LAHORE: According to Local media and TV reports the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ruled that President Asif Ali Zardari should suspend political activities.

The petition had been filed by A.K. Dogar. It had stated that the constitution required the president being head of the state to maintain a neutral and non-partisan posture.

It had further stated that Zardari being the PPP co-chairperson served party interests along with
being the president which was in direct violation of the constitution. The petitioner had also said that holding two offices was a violation of Article 41 (1) of the constitution and had requested the court to take appropriate action on the matter.
