Sindh Government seeks UN help in Flood Relief Operations

Even the roads are flooded with Heavy rain waters
 KARACHI: In a joint press conference with UN OCHA/UNIC Director John Ging, the Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas on Saturday said  the relief work is under way in Sindh jointly by UN and Pakistani government.

He said initially it was not expected that rains might cause huge destruction but it turned out to be more devastating. He linked the torrential rains in Sindh with the climate change, saying changes in weather patterns caused by global warming was occurring across the world.

The secreteray further added that 1170 mm rain was reported in Mithi and more then 500 mm downpour reported in other districts of the province causing 172 death tolls so far. 

John Ging on the occasion expressed his satisfaction with the relief work carried out by the Sindh Government. He stressed the provision of four basic necessities including food, shelter, medical and sanitation facility and drinking water.
