Berlin : A teenager who wandered out of the woods into Berlin two weeks ago speaks English, but says he has no idea who he is and has been living in the forest for five years with his father, who died recently, The Daily Telegraph reports.
The blond, blue-eyed boy, who stands about 5-11, gives his name only as "Ray" and says he is 17. He speaks fluent English and broken German.
According to The Telegraph, his first words to a German civil servant summed up his situation: "I'm all alone in the world, I don't know who I am. Please help me."
German authorities are perplexed by the case and have appealed to the public and Interpol for any information on a missing boy fittng that description.
The Telegraph quotes a German civil servant who spoke with the teenager as describing him as a "normal looking teenager."
"Ray" showed up in central Berlin carrying a backpack, tent and sleeping bag on Sept. 5, claiming that he began living in the forest with his father, named Ryan, about five years ago after his mother, Doreen, died in a car crash.
When his father recently died, the boy says, he buried him him in a shallow grave.
"He seemed calm, not scared at all, but quiet," the German civil servant tells The Telegraph.
"He said he had been told to go to Berlin if he ever needed help and had taken several weeks to walk here."
So far, police say the boy's tale checks out.
"What we can say for sure is that we have found nothing at all to disprove the story almost two weeks on," a German police spokesman says, according to The Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, "Ray" is living in a youth emergency center until authorities can sort out his story, Deutsche Welle reports..
