“Pak-Sri Lanka ties can be expanded through cooperation”


LAHORE: Pakistan and Sri Lanka have close relationships which can be further strengthened through greater bilateral trade ties. This was stated by the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Pakistan Air Chief Marshal (r) Jaya Lath Wearakkody, while visiting Lahore Museum along with the nine member Sri-Lankan parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of Sri Lanka parliament, Chamal Rajapaksa, here on Thursday.

Talking to media the Ambassador said, “We have a close relationship since a very long time and there are many other fields in which we could cooperate”.

He said a Pakistani delegation would soon visit Sri Lanka to discuss mutual matters next month and a joint commission would be constituted.

He elaborated that there was ample scope of cooperation in the fields of economics and education and both the countries can get benefit through agreements in these sectors.

The visiting delegation includes four women, including two Muslims. Lahore Museum Director Humaira Alam and PRO Sobia Tahir welcomed the delegation.

Museum Director briefed the delegation about the historic relics on the treasure trove of Lahore Museum.
