ISLAMABAD: A three-member judges’ bench of the apex court resumed the case’s hearing after a pause that lasted nine months.
A report prepared by the judicial commission constituted for the recovery of missing persons was also presented in court.
The report said that the commission was able to trace 134 missing persons. The commission also suggested that the parliament should legislate in order to curb the practice of enforced disappearances.
Subsequently, Justice Iqbal directed the government to submit a response to the commission’s report.
During the hearing, Justice Iqbal remarked that 2011 would be the year of the recovery of missing persons.
