KARACHI: Four persons including two police official were martyred while another policeman and three civilians were injured in an explosion near a police mobile in Saudabad, police said.
According to Saudabad police official Manthar Ali, the martyred policemen included Constables Imran and Mushtaq, a civilian Hafiz Mohammad Mushtaq and one unidentified charred body in the explosion.
The incharge of police mobile van ASI Manzoor Bhutto and Head Constable Dil Faraz and two civilians received injuries.
He said the mobile was totally damaged in the blast caused by an explosive device fitted in a motorcycle.
Manthar said that the motorcycle rider blew himself upon interception by the police team.
The whereabouts of motorcycle rider are not available as the parts of his body were being gathered from the scene, police and volunteers said.
The injured have been shifted to JPMC and Liaquat National Hospital for treatment. – APP

A motorcycle bomb detonated in Pakistan’s southern city of Karachi on Tuesday, shortly after a separate deadly explosion in Lahore, causing an unknown number of injuries, police officials told AFP.
“It was a motorcycle bomb,” city police chief Fayyaz Leghari said.
“When the bomb exploded it was huge and heard far away. Some people have been injured, but we are still collecting details about the blast and wounded.”The bomb took place in Karachi’s densely populated eastern neighbourhood of Kala Board. – AFP
