Android Mobile OS More Vulnerable To Security Threat Than iPhone

Though Android Mobile OS is marching forward to emerge as the number one mobile OS platform in the world, still it is way behind iPhone platform in terms of security. According a Trend Micro Inc, a renowned security software maker, Android mobile OS is more susceptible to virus threats and hackers than Apple’s iPhone platform.

Steve Chang, chairman of Trend Micro said that since the Android is an open-source platform it is easy for hackers to understand the source code and infect it with virus. On the other hand, it is almost next to impossible for certain type of virus to operate on iPhone.

It is to be noted that Google’s Android platform’s code can be accessed for free by developers for free to write software which increases its vulnerability to malware attacks. On the other hand, for Apple’s iOS, every app needs to be approved before being sold.

However, it is not that Apple’s iOS is not vulnerable to security threats. But most of these security threats are related to social attacks where consumers are duped to compromise with security of their phones by downloading harmful software. Meanwhile, Trend Micro has released software called Mobile Security for Android, which can be used by users to protect their devices from attacks of virus and other harmful programs.
